There are a number of scholarships, bursaries and grants available to financially support international students in New Zealand. There are many Government as well as individual University scholarships that are offered to the international students to take benefit from.
These scholarships are primarily based on the types mentioned above. They help in creating a pool of well-educated and highly skilled professionals who can contribute to the development of the country. In New Zealand, there are two intakes over the year when students apply for scholarships: one being the major intakes in February and July and other minor intakes in April, September and November.
While the institutions offer scholarships for various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, one scholarship that stands out from the rest is the New Zealand Excellence Award which is jointly funded by New Zealand universities and Education New Zealand (ENZ). The NZEA features scholarships across New Zealand universities, offering an opportunity for students to experience New Zealand excellence in various programmes.
The scholarships offered by New Zealand universities and ENZ can range from $1,000 - $30,000 annually.
